Pearl iZUMi Elite Thermal Arm Warmer

Reviewed by Laurel-Lea Shannon

PI-Arm-WarmersA good pair of arm warmers is an essential part of any cyclist’s kit. But unfortunately not all arm warmers are equally well-designed. If you’ve ever had a pair drift down your upper arms while you’re in the drops, you know what I mean.

That won’t happen with these Elite Thermal Arm Warmers from Pearl iZUMi. They fit like a glove, and once on, stay put. I tested a size small. The fit is semi-tight but that’s what you want in an arm warmer.

The warmers are left-and-right-arm-specific. The anatomic design and stretchy fabric make for a form-fitting sleeve that doesn’t bunch or move when you do. Scalloped tops ensure that the warmers keep your arms covered all the way up to the top, so when you move (even into the drops), they stay in place. What keeps them there? In addition to an elastic band, the top of the sleeves have another feature that many warmers lack: a full 360° silicon gripper band, ensuring there won’t be any slippage.

What’s more, they are the coziest arm warmers I’ve ever tested. According to Pearl Izumi’s website, that’s because of their new Elite thermal fleece fabric.

Rated for 4–15° C (40–60° F) you’ll get plenty of use out of Pearl Izumi’s versatile arm warmers—suitable for spring and fall riding and depending on where you live, early morning summer rides. And in case you ride when it’s dark, the left sleeve has a reflective element for low-light visibility.

The arm warmers are available in three colours: screaming yellow, black, and white. And women-specific sizes extra-small, small, medium, and large.
