With summer temperatures soaring, this form-fit Elite jersey from Pearl Izumi will keep you cool during rides in the blistering sun. Pearl Izumi’s In-R-Cool® fabric, designed for hot-temperature comfort, propels sweat away from your body to the outside of the fabric where it can evaporate, leaving you cool and dry. What’s more, the jersey has UPF 50+ to protect you from the harmful rays of the sun.
The Elite jersey hits all the high marks that I’ve come to expect from Pearl Izumi cycling products. Three good sized pockets at the back allow plenty of space for energy snacks, sun sleeves and other gear you might want to take along with you on a bike ride, such as an extra inner tube. One of the pockets is sweat proof—a good place to carry your iPhone, or a camera. A full length front zipper lets you unzip for extra ventilation when you need it. An elasticized gripper on the back keeps the hem in place, without being too tight or restrictive as they sometimes are on other brands.
I tested the dark purple, shown here. The fabric is super-light and soft. And the white and orange highlights in the design add to the visibility of the jersey.
And there’s another bonus. Pearl Izumi’s gear can withstand wash after wash and still look new several seasons later—providing you follow the care instructions included with the garment. And that makes this jersey a smart addition to your summer cycling kit.
The jersey comes in sizes XS through XL, in three colours: dark purple, gumdrop, black/living coral.
